Ankle sprains

A rolled ankle stretches or tears the ligaments on the outside of the ankle. We check whether a bone is broken, often with an X-ray in the office, then fit a brace or boot and plan the work to rebuild strength and balance.
Achilles pain and stress fractures

Pain and stiffness at the back of the heel, worst when you start moving, often comes from the Achilles tendon. Care usually means less training load, calf exercises and the right shoes. A sudden pop with weakness needs a same-day visit.
A stress fracture is a small crack in a bone from repeated impact, often after a quick jump in mileage. Pain that builds during a run and aches at rest is a reason to stop and get it checked.
How you walk and run

Dr. Pellegrino watches you walk and jog, looks at your shoes, and checks strength and flexibility. The plan then deals with what caused the injury, not only the pain.
Questions about ankle sprains and sports injuries
Can I keep running while it heals?
Sometimes, with changes. It depends on the injury. Dr. Pellegrino will tell you what you can do now and when to add more.
Do I need a referral for a sports injury?
Not with most plans. Call us with your plan name and we will check.
